BYU’s Elijah Crawford enters transfer portal after Sweet 16 appearance
BYU basketball will lose another freshman as guard Elijah Crawford has officially announced he is entering the NCAA Transfer Portal on Monday.
Crawford, a 6-foot-2 guard from Augusta, Georgia, had limited playing time last season in Provo. He appeared in 21 games, with most of his minutes coming during the final moments of non-conference matchups.
In fact, he played just 17 minutes during BYU’s Big 12 schedule and the postseason, highlighting the difficulty he faced in securing consistent playing time.
Crawford initially joined BYU after decommitting from Stanford. He followed assistant coach Brandon Dunson to Provo, joining before Egor Demin became part of the team. Despite the limited action, Crawford contributed off the bench, providing energy to the Cougars.
A four-star recruit from Brewster Academy, Crawford was ranked as the No. 112 player in the 2024 recruiting class. At Brewster, he averaged 13.5 points, 5.1 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game in his senior year.
With three years of eligibility remaining, Crawford is now looking for a fresh start at another program. He becomes the second Cougar to enter the portal, joining Kanon Catchings.
