Ja Morant Issues Straightforward Warning to Grizzlies Following Curry’s Performance
Ja Morant Delivers Straightforward Message to Grizzlies After Steph Curry Dominates Them
The Memphis Grizzlies suffered their fourth consecutive loss on Tuesday night, falling to Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
Curry put on a masterful performance, scoring 52 points on 16-of-31 shooting, along with 10 rebounds, eight assists, five steals, and a block in 37 minutes. The two-time MVP also set a new 3-point record, hitting 12 triples against a faltering Grizzlies defense.
After the game, a frustrated Ja Morant spoke with reporters about Memphis’ demoralizing 134-125 defeat at FedEx Forum. The two-time All-Star emphasized the importance of the Grizzlies maintaining a strong home-court advantage.
Morant also delivered a direct message to his team after Curry’s impressive offensive display.
“The main guy on the scout shouldn’t score 52 points,” Morant stated plainly.
The 6-foot-2 guard further explained that in these types of games, the Grizzlies must focus on “sticking to the game plan, knowing your personnel, and staying disciplined.”
“They have the greatest shooter in the world. He shouldn’t even get that many attempts at threes,” he added.
Tuesday’s loss dropped the Grizzlies to the No. 6 spot in the Western Conference, as the Warriors overtook them. To make matters worse, the Minnesota Timberwolves secured a thrilling double-overtime win over the Denver Nuggets that same night, tying Memphis with identical 44-32 records.
Morant and the Grizzlies need to turn things around quickly to maintain a top-six finish and secure a guaranteed playoff spot.
They will be back in action on Thursday for a road game against the Miami Heat.
