Texas A&M Faces Another Departure as Freshman Guard Enters Portal
Following the news of Buzz Williams leaving College Station for the head coaching position at Maryland, Texas A&M has experienced multiple player departures, with freshman guard Andre Mills becoming the latest to enter the transfer portal.
With 8 senior players departing and the search for a new head coach underway, the Aggies have had a lot to navigate recently. Shortly after Williams’ departure announcement, the team was dealt a significant blow when future star Pharrell Payne entered the transfer portal. Payne, who had an outstanding year with the Aggies, should have no trouble finding a new home due to his elite defensive skills and promising offensive game.
Not long after Payne’s departure, Mills followed suit. Although Mills didn’t see playing time this season, with seniors Wade Taylor IV and Zhuric Phelps dominating the minutes, reports indicate that the freshman showed flashes of immense potential during team practices and scrimmages. Mills, a former 4-star recruit, was ranked 119th overall in the 2024 class and 26th among shooting guards according to On3 Industry Rankings.
After a brief stint at Texas A&M and maintaining his full season of eligibility, the former Aggie will now look for a fresh opportunity, with multiple programs expected to show interest in him.
