Lions star drops another cliché call-out ahead of Eagles Week 1 matchup

Amon-Ra St. Brown hopes to make a Week 1 statement against the Eagles, but as the saying goes—you have to beat the best to be the best.

“To be the man, you gotta beat the man”! I’ve always liked that quote, but I can’t claim it as mine. That would be stealing. I’m pretty sure I first heard it from Ric Flair. I would’ve preferred it came from Buddy Ryan. It’s a shame none of his Eagles teams won a Super Bowl. Still, I just wanted to express how strong that line hits.

Now, if you—not the 16-time champ—actually coined that legendary quote, my bad, but let’s give Ric the credit. It loses flair without the ‘stylin’ and profilin’’. What does this have to do with the Eagles, though? Glad you asked. One of Detroit’s stars seems ready to bring the heat.

The Lions appear to have shaken off another gut-wrenching season finish. At least one player has. If you watch the LOL Network, you know Kevin Hart interviews athletes while chilling in a cold tub.

Amon-Ra St. Brown recently appeared on the show.

St. Brown wants to claim top dog status. That means taking down the defending kings. The Lions face the Eagles during the 2025 season, and Amon-Ra wants that matchup to kick things off.

We can’t blame him. We get it. These cliché challenges happen all the time during the offseason. Philly has the target now, and everyone will bring their A-game on game day.

As for Detroit, the spotlight is now on Dan Campbell. How good is he really? Was Detroit’s 2024 success about him—or was it mostly Ben Johnson?

The Lions’ postseason run ended with a painful exit. Will they earn a shot at redemption in Week 1? That remains to be seen.
