LeBron James’ Exchange With Anthony Davis During Lakers-Mavericks Grabs Attention

All eyes were locked on Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic Wednesday night as he made his long-awaited return to Dallas to face his old squad, the Mavericks. With all the excitement centered around Doncic, it was easy to forget that Anthony Davis, who was part of the major trade that sent Doncic to L.A., was also squaring off against his previous team. Davis, who played six seasons for the Lakers, was unexpectedly included in the blockbuster move that stunned many. Wednesday was a homecoming for him as well, and a notable moment between him and LeBron James during the game caught fire online.

Both Davis and James were seen laughing as they lightly nudged one another during a pause in the action. The two shared several seasons as teammates — even winning a championship together — so seeing them on opposite sides will take some getting used to. The brief scuffle sparked a flood of reactions on social media. “LeMind Games,” someone commented on X. “LeBron traded him, now he wanna be buddies,” added another. “AD really wants to throw hands,” someone else chimed in.

“AD definitely believes Bron was aware before the trade happened. There’s no way Bron didn’t know about the deal ahead of time. AD must feel betrayed,” a fan commented. “AD is low-key mad and I don’t blame him — we were just a couple of pieces away from being a full title contender, but it’s Luka, so I get it,” another posted. “This moment had me emotional,” said one viewer. Ultimately, it was James and the Lakers who walked away with the win in Dallas, 112-97. The league’s all-time scoring leader posted 27 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Davis had 13 points and 11 boards in a double-double effort.

Still, it was Doncic who took center stage with a brilliant showing against his former team. The five-time All-Star matched his career best in a Lakers jersey, torching the Mavs for 45 points on 16-of-28 shooting, while also collecting eight rebounds, six assists, four steals, and sinking seven threes. Doncic clearly had a point to prove — and he delivered it loud and clear.
