Kentucky Women’s Basketball lands Georgia Tech transfer Tonie Morgan

The Kentucky women’s basketball program has secured a major addition to its backcourt with the commitment of Georgia Tech transfer Tonie Morgan, according to Phoenix Stevens of KSR.

Morgan, a 5-foot-9 junior guard from Tallahassee, Florida, arrives in Lexington as one of the most dynamic and experienced players in the country. A two-time All-ACC selection, she averaged 13.7 points, 5.6 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game during her junior campaign with the Yellow Jackets. Known for her ability to attack the rim and finish through contact, Morgan also has the skills to create her own shot and facilitate for teammates.

She played a key role in Georgia Tech’s red-hot start to the 2023–24 season, guiding the team to a perfect 15-0 record that helped them rise to No. 13 in the AP Poll. Her impact was undeniable — she led the team in scoring in six games, including each of their final four contests, and was the team’s top distributor in 23 of their outings.

Morgan’s standout moment came in the regular season finale against Stanford, where she poured in a career-high 31 points on 12/20 shooting. She also posted 15 or more points in 12 games this season, proving her consistency as both a scorer and playmaker.

With Morgan now joining head coach Kenny Brooks’ Kentucky roster, the Wildcats add a proven leader and game-changer to the mix. She’ll be surrounded by a talented core of returners and incoming players, giving Kentucky fans plenty of reason for optimism heading into next season.
