BYU’s Harrison Taggart to Explore Options in NCAA Transfer Portal

BYU LB Harrison Taggart To Enter NCAA Transfer Portal

BYU football has another notable player entering the NCAA Transfer Portal.

One day after news of WR/KR Keelan Marion going into the portal, BYU’s starting MLB last season, Harrison Taggart, is portal-bound.

Harrison Taggart is off to the NCAA Transfer Portal

Taggart said, “Let’s work,” in response to a report that he planned to enter the portal.

Last season, Taggart was the starting middle linebacker for BYU on the No. 1 defense in the Big 12. Taggart had 69 tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, and one interception last season.

The former four-star prospect spent two seasons at BYU after transferring in from the University of Oregon, where he spent one year in Eugene.

Taggart has two years of eligibility remaining in his college career.

The 6-foot-1, 230-pound prospect racked up 97 tackles in the past two seasons at BYU.

What’s next at linebacker for BYU football

On a positive note, BYU’s linebacker spot is a strength. The Cougars bring back Isaiah Glasker and Jack Kelly from last year’s group.

Then, to potentially replace Taggart, former four-star recruit Siale Esera has the chance to step right in and be the starting middle linebacker next season.

Esera was a top performer coming out of spring practices last month.

BYU also has Miles Hall and Choe Bryant-Strother as other options if Taggart moves forward with his transfer out of the Cougar football program.

Raider Damuni, a safety on BYU’s defense, wrote on X, “Scary Harry! Go be great my dawg!”

Starting offensive lineman Weylin Lapuaho added, “Love you boi! Go be great!”

The spring NCAA Transfer Portal for football is open until Friday, April 25.
