Bears draft Michigan State guard Luke Newman in sixth round at No. 195 overall.

The Bears have one pick left. It’s in the seventh round at No. 233 overall.

Newman played guard and tackle in college.

The Bears are hoping to find anyone who can make their roster at this point and they drafted Michigan State guard Luke Newman in the sixth round at No. 195 overall.

Newman, 6-foot-3, 312 pounds, played 52 games between his time at Holy Cross and Michigan State. He’s a former left tackle, but started 12 games at left guard for the Spartans last season.

It will be a challenge for him to make the Bears’ active roster. They have five starters, including injured left tackle Braxton Jones, plus recent draft picks Kiran Amegadjie and Ozzy Trapilo, in addition to returning backups Ryan Bates, Bill Murray and Doug Kramer.
