The NFL Draft has wrapped up, and the Miami Dolphins still haven’t dealt Jalen Ramsey — a surprising outcome considering the circumstances.
NPer Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, both Ramsey and the Dolphins have agreed to explore trade opportunities, and the team remains open to moving him.
Bleacher Report’s Zach Bachar floated a trade scenario that would send Ramsey to the Detroit Lions, a team in need of help in the secondary after last season’s struggles.
“Detroit locked up the NFC’s top seed with a 15-2 record but was knocked out in the divisional round by the Washington Commanders in a 45-31 loss. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels picked apart Detroit’s coverage, going 22-for-31 with 299 yards and two scores. The Lions had the third-worst pass defense in the league last year,” he noted.
Despite the Lions adding some defensive pieces in the draft, acquiring a proven veteran like Ramsey could still be on their radar.
In what could be considered a Super Bowl-or-bust year, bringing in a seasoned All-Pro makes a lot of sense.
That said, Ramsey’s hefty contract remains a factor — the Dolphins signed him to a three-year, $72 million extension just last offseason.
If Detroit is willing to absorb the deal and send back a third- or fourth-round pick, Miami may be ready to part ways.
