Undrafted WR Jackson Meeks Has Shot to Crack Lions’ 2025 Roster
The Detroit Lions, coming off a stellar 2024 regular season, have bolstered an already well-rounded roster through both the draft and undrafted free agent signings. Among the newcomers, wide receiver Jackson Meeks stands out as a potential surprise addition to the final 53-man roster.
Meeks, who played for the Syracuse Orange, made a name for himself with his toughness and team-first attitude. He’s been praised for having a “dawg mentality”—the type of gritty, no-nonsense effort that coaches love. His ability to fight for extra yards and contribute in multiple phases of the game could earn him a spot behind top receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.
Last season, the Lions came up short in the playoffs, losing to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round. A major reason was the weakened defense, especially in the pass-rushing department after star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson suffered a fractured fibula early in the season. No defender on the roster finished with more than five sacks.
With Hutchinson expected to return at full strength and the addition of Ohio State defensive tackle Tyleik Williams, Detroit is aiming to shore up that defensive front. At the same time, depth at wide receiver remains a priority, and Meeks may prove to be an unexpected but valuable piece as the team looks to make a deeper playoff push in 2025.
