The Kentucky Wildcats are adding a hometown product to their roster, landing former Miami (OH) center Reece Potter through the transfer portal.

On Monday, Potter, a 7-foot-1 Lexington native, announced his commitment to new UK head coach Mark Pope, per a report from On3 Sports’ Joe Tipton. Potter spent the past two seasons at Miami University in Ohio, where he saw action in 56 games, starting just 11.

Despite a limited starting role, Potter showcased a well-rounded game, averaging 6.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per contest. His standout skill is his perimeter shooting—he connected on nearly 40% of his three-point attempts, an impressive mark for a player his size.

Potter’s style of play is reminiscent of former Wildcat Zvonimir Ivisic, who transferred to Arkansas and later Illinois this offseason. His arrival gives Kentucky another versatile frontcourt piece, complementing the more traditional post presence of Jayden Quaintance.

With Potter now in the fold, Kentucky has landed six transfers under Pope’s leadership, a group that 247 Sports currently ranks as the fourth-best transfer class in the nation. The roster makeover also includes guards Denzel Aberdeen and Jaland Lowe, adding depth and talent across the board.

Though it remains to be seen how this retooled lineup will perform together, the talent and versatility assembled so far make Kentucky a compelling team to watch.
