Is Brandon Garrison poised for a breakout in Year 2?
When Mark Pope brought Brandon Garrison to the Kentucky Wildcats, he pitched a two-year development plan. The first year was about laying the foundation, and now, entering his second season, the coaching staff believes Garrison has the tools to become a standout star.
In a recent chat with CBS’s Jon Rothstein, Pope expressed high hopes for the young forward. “Brandon Garrison—he’s locked in this offseason,” Pope said. “As a McDonald’s All-American who had a strong freshman season at Oklahoma State and made real progress last year, he’s now ready to elevate his game. This summer is critical for him, and he’s treating it that way. He’s dialed in with clear goals and intense focus.”
Pope has always emphasized the value of roster stability and believes that growth flourishes in a consistent environment. “That kind of continuity is essential for long-term success,” Pope explained. “There’s nothing quite like watching your players grow within your system. My second-year players usually take a big step forward.”
One example fans might recognize is Jaxson Robinson, who made significant strides under Pope’s guidance. He’s just one of several players who have benefited from Pope’s development model.
