Kentucky lands transfer OL Cameron Jones, from James Madison with multiple years of eligibility
Kentucky is focused on strengthening its roster for the 2025 football season, and on Wednesday morning, the Wildcats made a key addition through the transfer portal. Transfer offensive lineman Cameron Jones from James Madison has committed to Kentucky, according to Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer of CBS Sports/247 Sports. Jones brings with him three years of eligibility, providing a boost for head coach Mark Stoops and his team.
Originally part of the 2023 recruiting class, Jones joined the Dukes out of Weir High School in Weirton, West Virginia. He had previously received offers from schools like Marshall, Akron, and Eastern Michigan. At James Madison, the 6-foot-6, 330-pound lineman redshirted his first season in 2023 and made a brief appearance in one game during the 2024 bowl game. While Jones is expected to be a developmental player at Kentucky, his impressive size makes him a promising prospect for the Wildcats’ offensive line, especially as they compete in the SEC.
Jones is the latest addition to Kentucky’s transfer class, which has been ranked 10th nationally by 247 Sports. The class includes 26 players, with a notable emphasis on strengthening the offensive line, which features seven new linemen. This influx of talent aims to help Kentucky recover from a disappointing 2024 season, in which they finished 4-8 and missed their first bowl game appearance in years.
