Expert Points Out a Well-Known Fact Regarding Jared Goff of the Lions

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has made a big impression over the last two seasons, and one analyst is highlighting the clear truth about him.

The Detroit Lions are clearly aiming for a championship, and their last two seasons have shattered records thanks to head coach Dan Campbell, general manager Brad Holmes, and quarterback Jared Goff. Last year, Goff had a remarkable season, with 37 touchdowns, making him the first Lions QB to log back-to-back 30+ touchdown seasons.

Then came January, and the Lions had a quick and disappointing playoff exit at the hands of the Washington Commanders. Still, that’s now in the rearview, and unlike many other NFL teams, the Lions have long-term stability at quarterback with Goff.

In a May 9 article for Bleacher Report, NFL analyst Brad Gagnon assessed every team’s quarterback outlook after the 2025 NFL Draft. “Now that the draft is over and the QB shuffle has almost settled for 2025, it’s time to examine every team’s quarterback status,” Gagnon said.

Using a method based on factors such as age, development, contract, injury history, and team status, Gagnon summarized each team’s QB urgency with one sentence apiece.

For example, one of the teams most in need of a quarterback is the Pittsburgh Steelers. Realistically, any team hinging its future on Aaron Rodgers is in a risky position.

When it comes to the Lions, Gagnon made a clear point: Goff is here to stay. Well, maybe not forever, but he has a strong future with Detroit.

“Jared Goff is a high-paid QB in his prime, and the Lions are too close to contending to bail on him now, even if he falls short in the playoffs again,” he wrote.

Now that the draft has ended, NFL analysts are evaluating all 257 draft picks. In a May 9 ESPN article, a panel of experts reviewed the draft’s biggest moves. “We asked over a dozen of our NFL writers to share thoughts on what happened in Green Bay,” they explained.

For Detroit, they said the most puzzling pick was wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa.

“I understand the appeal of TeSlaa,” said Matt Bowen in the piece. “He’s a 6’4” receiver who can stretch the field and posted great testing numbers (4.43 40-yard dash, 39½-inch vertical). Still, he’s raw, and they gave up two 2026 third-rounders to get him.”

Aaron Schatz agreed, saying TeSlaa “had a near-zero score in my Playmaker Score model. Scouts Inc. ranked him 17th among receivers and 157th overall. And yet, Detroit gave up two future third-round picks. At best, he’s a redundant version of Amon-Ra St. Brown.”

The NFL season kicks off with the NFL Kickoff Game on Thursday, September 4. The Philadelphia Eagles, reigning Super Bowl champions, will host, though the opponent hasn’t been revealed yet
