The Detroit Lions now have a full 90-man roster. On Monday, the team revealed it had signed three players who took part in rookie minicamp as tryout participants, while also releasing another.
Tight end Luke Deal, wide receiver Malik Taylor, and defensive lineman Raequan Williams are now officially on the roster. To create space for the additions, the Lions waived undrafted rookie tight end Caden Prieskorn.
Deal, a 2025 prospect, played the past six seasons at Auburn University, appearing in a school-record 64 games for the Tigers. He captained the team in both 2023 and 2024, with his main college role focused on blocking.
Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 259 pounds, Deal is now the largest tight end on the roster. He earned a 79.5 pass-blocking grade last year, ranking seventh-best nationwide.
Taylor hails from Ferris State but has NFL experience dating back to 2019. Undrafted, he has spent time with the Buccaneers, Packers, and Jets. Taylor has appeared in 28 games, totaling nine catches for 93 yards and one touchdown.
His busiest year was 2020, when he played in 15 games, started once, and logged 166 offensive and 210 special teams snaps. At 6-foot-3, 220 pounds, with 4.46 speed, Taylor gives Detroit a veteran WR-X option.
Williams is also a veteran in the league. A former Michigan State defensive lineman, he went undrafted in 2020 and has since had stints with the Eagles, Jaguars, and Panthers—appearing in seven games overall. At 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, Williams brings most of his experience at the defensive tackle spot.
