Lions Ink Three Players Following Rookie Minicamp Tryouts

The Detroit Lions have now reached the 90-player roster limit. On Monday, the organization shared that it signed three players who attended rookie minicamp over the weekend on a tryout basis, while letting one player go.

Tight end Luke Deal, wide receiver Malik Taylor, and defensive lineman Raequan Williams have officially joined the squad. To open roster spots, the team released undrafted rookie tight end Caden Prieskorn.

Deal, entering the NFL in 2025, played six seasons at Auburn University and set a school record with 64 game appearances. He served as team captain in both 2023 and 2024, mostly contributing as a blocker. Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 259 pounds, he is now the largest tight end on the team. In his final season, he posted a 79.5 pass-blocking grade—ranking seventh-best nationwide.

Taylor, from Ferris State, has played in the NFL since 2019. Though undrafted, he had stints with the Buccaneers, Packers, and Jets. He has played in 28 games, with nine receptions for 93 yards and one touchdown.

His busiest year was 2020, when he appeared in 15 games, made one start, and logged 166 offensive snaps and 210 on special teams. At 6-foot-3, 220 pounds with 4.46 speed, Taylor offers Detroit a seasoned WR-X option.

Williams also brings NFL experience. A former Michigan State player, he went undrafted in 2020 and had brief stays with the Eagles, Jaguars, and Panthers—appearing in seven total games. He is 6-foot-4, weighs 305 pounds, and most of his time has been spent playing defensive tackle.
