Why Christen Harper Faced Difficulties During 18-Week Pregnancy Bikini Shoot

Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff’s wife, Christen Harper Goff, rocked a 2024 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit photo shoot during the middle of her pregnancy — and most people had no idea she was expecting.

“I actually did the Sports Illustrated shoot this year when I was 18 weeks pregnant,” said Christen, 31, on the May 11 episode of the “Sunday Sports Club” podcast. “It was that awkward stage — I couldn’t suck in anymore, but when I pushed it out, it didn’t look like a real baby bump.”

She continued, “I was eating more to prep for the shoot, which felt wild. It’ll be fun to look back at those photos knowing she was in there. Honestly, that was the hardest shoot because I was in between stages. I didn’t quite feel like myself yet, and I didn’t have a bump to show off or connect with.”

“I just felt kind of bloated,” she said with a laugh. “No margaritas allowed, and I’m in a bikini. It was a really strange in-between moment. Early pregnancy is weird—you’re just getting to know your changing body.”

Now in her third trimester, Christen publicly revealed her pregnancy in February at the NFL Honors ceremony, where she and Jared, 30, made a red carpet appearance.

“The timing was perfect. The season had just ended,” Christen said, referencing Jared’s year with Detroit. “I didn’t do any big pregnancy reveal, so I figured, ‘Let’s keep it simple.’ It was chill and kind of cool to tell people face-to-face that night.”

As the couple gets ready to welcome their baby girl, Christen joked that Jared’s been on ChatGPT daily searching for the best stroller options.

“I’ll just see how I feel after,” Christen said when asked if she’d return to modeling. “I’m not putting any pressure on it. I know things will change, and I’m not sure who I’ll be afterward, but I’d love to come back and do SI again—or maybe that was my grand finale.”

Even with her modeling future undecided, Christen is looking forward to meeting her daughter and having her at Jared’s games this season.

“I’m excited to have a baby with me—it’ll help distract me when I get nervous during the games,” Christen shared. “I think having her there will be a great way to stay calm.”

She’s also eager to get her baby dressed in team gear.

“People have already given us a few adorable outfits,” she said. “I want a full lion costume. I’m going to lift her up like The Lion King—since fans do that on game days. I can’t wait to join in with her.”
