Shocking news Detroit Lions standout stuns fans with unexpected NFL retirement announcement
The Detroit Lions are expected to be among the top contenders in the NFC next season when the NFL returns, but Dan Campbell’s squad will have a new look on the offensive line following a surprise retirement from one of its key players.
All-Pro center Frank Ragnow shocked fans by retiring after only seven seasons, leaving the Lions without their most reliable offensive lineman to protect quarterback Jared Goff heading into the 2025 campaign.
A key part of Ragnow’s retirement message was his statement that “it’s time to prioritize my health and my family’s future.”
The 2018 first-round pick spent his entire professional career with the Lions and proved to be a strong choice, earning four Pro Bowl honors during his seven seasons with the franchise.
Although Detroit didn’t appear ready for Ragnow’s sudden departure, which occurred after the NFL Draft, the team had taken two offensive linemen, including Georgia’s standout second-rounder Tate Ratledge.
