“He reminds me of Captain America,” Verse explained. “He’s always calm and in control, even in pressure situations. But he also knows how to get the team fired up before kickoff. … He brings real energy to the locker room.”
Now heading into his second year in the league, Verse applauded Stafford’s composure and leadership, emphasizing the quarterback’s consistent influence and motivational presence among teammates.
“I honestly believe he’s one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play,” Verse continued.
At age 37, Stafford enters his 17th NFL season with career totals of over 59,809 passing yards, 377 touchdown passes, and 188 interceptions. He holds a 63.4% completion rate and a 91.2 career passer rating, with two Pro Bowl nods and an NFL Comeback Player of the Year award. He’s also part of the Detroit Lions’ All-Time Team.
Since being traded to Los Angeles in 2021, Stafford led the Rams to a Super Bowl LVI win in his first year. He’s since taken them to the postseason three times in four years, with the only miss in 2022 when injuries sidelined him for most of the season.
This offseason, Stafford showed loyalty to the Rams by agreeing to a reworked two-year, $84 million contract, securing $80 million guaranteed. Reports stated he declined more lucrative multi-year deals from the Raiders and Giants, choosing to stay in L.A. despite leaving over $20 million on the table.
In 2024, the Rams wrapped up the regular season with a 10-7 record, securing the NFC West title before falling in the divisional round to the eventual Super Bowl 59 champs, the Philadelphia Eagles.
Verse, selected in the first round of the 2024 draft, played all 17 games during his debut season and was part of a Rams defense that surpassed expectations. His comments about Stafford highlight the QB’s ongoing importance to the team, especially among younger talent.
As the 2025 season nears, the Rams continue to rally behind a veteran quarterback who not only leads by example but now carries a superhero persona to match his impact.
