Kelly Stafford, the wife of NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford, recently addressed and dismissed false online rumors suggesting she had been diagnosed with cancer. On July 24, 2023, she posted on Instagram to clearly correct the misinformation: “I DO NOT HAVE CANCER,” sharing a black-and-white image featuring that exact message.
She voiced her anger, describing the misleading headlines as “infuriating,” and criticized the media for exploiting her photo as clickbait—arguing that such rumors detract attention from those genuinely fighting cancer each day.
The misunderstanding arose after Kelly spoke about a recent health scare on the July 18 episode of her podcast The Morning After, where she mentioned stomach pain and concern over a possible serious condition. She noted that doctors discovered a thyroid issue but reassured listeners it was not cancer.
Kelly explained that her abdominal and back discomfort was due to a stomach virus, not cancer, and that she was undergoing additional tests for digestive concerns. Referring to her past health experiences—including the removal of a benign brain tumor in 2019—she stressed that this situation had no connection to any form of cancer.
