Detroit Lions Dealt Setback Ahead of NFL Season as Levi Onwuzurike Sidelined for Four Games

The Detroit Lions have moved defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike to the reserve/physically unable to perform list as of Thursday.

Being placed on the PUP list means Onwuzurike will be unavailable for at least the opening four games of the 2025 campaign. The specifics of his injury remain undisclosed.

The 27-year-old appeared in 16 games last year, starting 10, and totaled 28 tackles along with 1.5 sacks. Since being drafted in 2021, he has 3.5 sacks across 42 games in Detroit.

He missed the 2022 season entirely due to a significant back issue.

Losing Onwuzurike is a tough setback for head coach Dan Campbell as he gears up for another Super Bowl push.

Detroit ended last season as the NFC’s top seed but were upset at home in their playoff opener by the Washington Commanders.
