Lions’ Morice Norris Back at Team Facility After Hospital Stay From Frightening Collision

Lions safety Morice Norris was back at the team’s facility on Sunday, two days after leaving the field in an ambulance following a frightening collision in a preseason matchup with the Falcons, per The Associated Press.

Norris made his return to the Lions’ facility after being discharged from the hospital on Saturday. In stable condition by late Friday evening, he shared an optimistic update about his health on social media the next day,

“I’m all good man, don’t stress it. Appreciate all the check ins and love,” he posted on Instagram.

Norris suffered the injury when he struck Falcons running back Nathan Carter early in the fourth quarter. During the play, Norris’ head jerked backward after making contact with Carter’s leg. He was then treated by medical personnel for several minutes before being placed in an ambulance and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Norris suffered the injury after making contact with Falcons running back Nathan Carter at the start of the fourth quarter. On the play, Norris’ head whipped backward after striking Carter’s leg. He was then treated by medical staff for several minutes before being placed in an ambulance and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Given the seriousness of the injury, both teams agreed to let the clock run out, and the game was halted with 6:19 remaining in the fourth quarter, with the Lions ahead 17-10.

The 24-year-old Norris joined the Lions last offseason after going undrafted. He spent most of his rookie campaign on Detroit’s practice squad before being promoted to the active roster on December 28.

Norris, who wrapped up his college career at Fresno State, appeared in his first NFL regular season game in Week 17, playing 20 snaps on special teams. He logged his first defensive snap in the regular season during Week 18 and recorded his first career tackle in the Lions’ NFC divisional round loss to the Commanders.
