Liverpool’s Next Isak Bid Emerges as Newcastle’s Minimum Price Set

Liverpool are reportedly preparing a fresh bid for Swedish forward Alexander Isak as the “minimum fee Newcastle are demanding” becomes known.

Earlier this summer, it appeared unlikely the Reds could secure Isak after the Magpies insisted he was not for sale following their Champions League qualification.

But after Liverpool made an approach, Isak informed Newcastle he wished to leave St James’ Park this summer and join the Anfield club.

Liverpool then submitted a £110m proposal for the Sweden striker, which Newcastle rejected outright, with the Reds now waiting patiently before making another approach.

Reports suggest Liverpool want some indication that Newcastle are willing to discuss a reasonable price, especially after identifying possible replacements for Isak.

Transfer reporter Nicola Schira now claims Liverpool “are set to make a new official bid” for Isak after securing personal terms with the Magpies’ forward.

Former Manchester United and Tottenham scout Mick Brown – still well-linked in the Premier League – has disclosed the “minimum” Newcastle will accept for Isak in this window.

Brown told Football Insider: “Newcastle aren’t being pressured. They don’t want to sell Isak, but if he keeps pushing and refuses to play, then I think they’ll be ready to consider an offer.

“I’ve heard Liverpool will make another bid, as they remain keen to sign him.

“That bid will probably be over £120million, which is apparently the minimum Newcastle are seeking.

“They’ve gone to £110million, but not beyond that, and everyone knows the scenario. It’s in all parties’ interests to find a resolution.

“If they raise the bid, I think it stands a better chance of acceptance.

“From Liverpool’s perspective, they’re confident since the player wants the move.

“A higher amount might make Newcastle conclude that if he won’t settle, they’d be better off letting him leave.”
