Nicolas Jackson has drawn attention from Newcastle United. The Magpies are aiming to strengthen their attack during the summer transfer window as uncertainty grows over Alexander Isak’s long-term future. The versatile 24-year-old Chelsea forward has therefore surfaced as a target for the Tyneside club.
Chelsea’s asking price has recently dropped from £80 million to £60 million, a development welcomed by Newcastle United. The 2024/25 EFL Cup champions are prepared to match that valuation, with Eddie Howe confident Jackson could fill Isak’s role at St. James’ Park. Still, no formal bid has yet been submitted to the Blues.
Nicolas Jackson finds himself at a turning point in his career despite steady progress since joining Chelsea from Villarreal for £32 million in July 2023. While the 24-year-old has been wasteful at times in front of goal, his energy and knack for creating opportunities have made him valuable for the West London side.
The Senegal international has made nearly 100 appearances for Chelsea, contributing 30 goals and 12 assists. Yet, his future at Stamford Bridge looks over, with Liam Delap and Joao Pedro arriving this summer. That makes a departure likely, and Newcastle United are among the clubs pursuing his signature in the current window.
Newcastle’s pursuit of Nicolas Jackson is logical given the situation. With Isak determined to join Liverpool before the window closes, the Magpies are actively seeking a replacement. Other names, such as Yoane Wissa, are also under consideration, with Jackson standing out as a strong option.
A transfer for the former Villarreal man now appears more feasible, with Eddie Howe viewing him as a long-term successor to Isak. The price cut from £80 million to £60 million has only encouraged Newcastle, who are ready to meet Chelsea’s demands.
However, despite being willing to spend £60 million to secure Jackson, Newcastle are still “considering whether to advance negotiations” as they weigh up alternative targets. It remains to be seen if the 24-year-old Senegalese forward will exit Chelsea for St. James’ Park during this summer’s transfer period.
