Liverpool kicked off their new Premier League season perfectly on Friday, and with a week until their next match, transfer focus can now return.
The Reds wrapped up a busy week by starting their 2025/26 campaign with an exciting 4-2 victory over Bournemouth.
New recruit Hugo Ekitike scored first, followed by Cody Gakpo doubling the lead. However, Antoine Semenyo brought Bournemouth back with two goals in the second half.
But Federico Chiesa – who might leave Anfield soon – and Mohamed Salah scored crucial goals to secure Liverpool’s win. With a week before their next fixture, transfer discussions resume.
Liverpool’s newest signing is Giovanni Leoni, who joined from Parma for £26m. The Reds may still be active, with Alexander Isak linked to a major move to Anfield.
Here’s the latest transfer news and rumors from Liverpool in the last 24 hours.
Howe on Isak future
Eddie Howe said he hasn’t ruled out keeping Alexander Isak at Newcastle. Before Saturday’s Premier League opener against Aston Villa, he said: “Yes, I think there is a chance for Isak to stay.
“But talks need to happen for it to happen. But that’s for another day.
“Right now it’s all about Aston Villa and focusing on our performance. I get why your questions focus on that, but it’s not helpful now.”
Real Madrid enters Isak race
Real Madrid have entered the battle for Alexander Isak, according to Richard Keys. Speaking on beIN Sport, Keys said Liverpool made a new bid but now face rivals.
“I heard Liverpool offered £110m. Another deal of £80m now and £60m next season. You choose,” Keys added: “But Real Madrid could also be involved.”
Isak was not selected for Newcastle’s match against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Slot drops Chiesa hint
Arne Slot suggested Federico Chiesa might remain at Liverpool after his winning goal vs Bournemouth. After the game, Slot said: “While he’s here, it’s definitely at Liverpool, and I don’t think that will change.
“He struggled with fitness last season and missed the Asian tour, along with Joe Gomez. Losing Conor Bradley meant all my substitutions involved players who couldn’t last 90 minutes.
“At 2-2 you need a striker. I brought him on and he delivered, which bodes well for his future here. Fans cheered for him often last season, so it’s great he gave them something back.”
