Liverpool submit ‘improved bid’ for Alexander Isak as insider predicts Newcastle striker ‘set to leave’

Liverpool have tabled a fresh and improved proposal for Alexander Isak, according to a presenter, who also revealed that Real Madrid are monitoring the Newcastle United forward, while Eddie Howe has made his stance on the saga crystal clear.

Isak has become one of the main stories of the transfer window, with Liverpool eager to secure his signature and Newcastle insisting – at least in public – that he is not available.

The Swede has already shaken hands on personal terms with Liverpool and is not training with Howe’s group, with fresh claims suggesting the striker has even vacated his Newcastle residence.

TEAMtalk believes Liverpool are preparing a second offer, though the league champions are waiting for Newcastle to identify a successor before making the next move.

The presenter also revealed that Spanish giants Madrid are admirers of Isak, who netted 23 times and supplied six assists in 34 top-flight matches for Newcastle last campaign.

Keys said on beIN SPORTS on August 15: “I was told today that Liverpool have bid £110m. A follow-up deal of £80m now and £60m next summer.

“I can’t believe he’d go out on such a limb without being almost certain he’ll be gone before the window ends.”

Keys, a former Sky Sports anchor with strong connections, made the claim – but his report of Liverpool’s second offer for Isak should be handled cautiously.

At present no other journalist or outlet has corroborated the story, and it would be wise to wait for additional confirmation of the information Keys received before drawing firm conclusions.

Magpies boss Howe has already acknowledged Liverpool’s opening bid for Isak, but so far has remained silent about any follow-up proposal.

As for the links to Madrid, it is logical to think Los Blancos would monitor Isak, given he is 25 and among the finest strikers globally.

However, Madrid are not pursuing a centre-forward this summer, with Gonzalo Garcia signing fresh terms and Endrick handed the iconic No. 9 shirt.

Isak did not feature for Newcastle in their league opener at Aston Villa’s Villa Park last Saturday evening.

Supporters branded the Swede “greedy” after the goalless draw, though Howe has kept the possibility open for him to rejoin the fold.

“He needs to decide what he wants. We are hoping for a conclusion. The team requires clarity. There must not be distractions.

“It isn’t in my hands. Only one person controls that. We will see what happens. My stance is already known. My priority is the squad.”

Ibrahima Konate has informed Liverpool of the wages he wants in order to commit to a new deal and reject Real Madrid interest.

Liverpool are also battling Tottenham Hotspur for a £45m-rated talent, whose contract expires this year and who has declined to extend terms.

Meanwhile, one unsettled Liverpool forward has declared he intends to remain at Anfield, though the champions could still sell him to help fund a move for Isak before the window closes.
