Fabrizio Romano Reports Liverpool Ready to Table Proposal for Top-Class Forward.
Fabrizio Romano has stated that Newcastle United have once again received a firm message from Alexander Isak that his only desire is to sign for Liverpool.
The ongoing Isak transfer saga has dominated headlines for several weeks now, and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. The Swedish forward did not feature in Newcastle’s 0-0 stalemate with Aston Villa on the Premier League’s opening weekend, and it looks doubtful that he will play again for the club before the summer window shuts.
Newcastle are looking for a new forward in anticipation of possibly selling Isak, but they are determined not to let him go without a fight. The Magpies want a hefty transfer fee if he’s to leave, and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will meet their asking price, with under two weeks left in the transfer window.
“What I can tell you guys is that Newcastle again received a very clear signal from the player. They’ve spent July and August approaching Alexander Isak, asking repeatedly if there was any chance he’d reconsider staying. They even proposed a new contract—offering him the highest salary in club history and a release clause for 2026—but Isak again refused. He’s made his position clear: no way. Isak has no plans to change his stance. His camp says the same—only Liverpool. They are now just waiting for what comes next.”
Romano also reports that Liverpool remain prepared to make another offer for Isak. Should Newcastle indicate they’re open to selling, the Reds will respond quickly. Liverpool haven’t targeted any other forwards—Isak remains their top priority.
“Liverpool are ready to go in again for Isak. I’ve said this since July, and I’ll repeat it: if Newcastle are open to selling, Liverpool will respond with a new offer. Don’t believe claims that Liverpool won’t bid. They absolutely will. They’re fully prepared. This has become crystal clear now that we’re 10 days into the hottest phase of this story—and Liverpool have still not looked at other strikers.”
Isak, who Alan Shearer has labeled a ‘world-class’ talent, seems determined to leave before the transfer window shuts, while Newcastle are equally firm that it will take a huge offer to let him go.
