Eagles manager Oliver Glasner is looking to secure a replacement for Eberechi Eze, who is edging closer to a £65m transfer to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Crystal Palace have turned their attention to Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling and are willing to meet the price tag with a total package worth £45m.
Everton have been chasing the 19-year-old throughout the summer, but have so far fallen short of Southampton’s valuation. Their gradual offers have all been dismissed by the south-coast side.
That repeated tactic from the Championship outfit has only led to slightly higher bids, but none have reached the figure the Saints are demanding for Dibling.
Now the situation has shifted – Crystal Palace have joined the chase. Glasner is determined to recruit an exciting successor to Eze following his high-profile move to north London.
The Eagles are prepared to pay £35m upfront – with bonuses and other clauses expected to raise their proposal to the £45m asking price Southampton desire.
That currently places them ahead of Everton in the eyes of the Saints, and unless David Moyes makes a decisive move, Palace could succeed in prising away one of his key summer targets.
