Newcastle left reeling after Manchester United’s £133.5m double capture delivers another rejection.

Newcastle United transfer latest: The Magpies have once again had a move for Yoane Wissa turned down by Brentford.

The Tyne side club’s improved £35m bid, with an additional £5m in potential bonuses, for Yoane Wissa has been rejected by the Bees. Reports of Newcastle’s increased proposal emerged on Wednesday afternoon, but just hours later it was confirmed Brentford had knocked it back.

Newcastle had already failed with an earlier approach for Wissa this window and raised their financial package considerably in hopes of finally striking a deal. Yet Brentford remain firm in their stance that Wissa is off the market this summer, even after finalising a transfer for Bournemouth winger Dango Ouattara.

Wissa sat out Brentford’s defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday as he continues to push for a move to St James’ Park. The DR Congo forward is said to have refused to feature again for Brentford unless he is granted an exit before the window closes.

The Bees’ refusal to sell comes after a turbulent summer at the Gtech Community Stadium which has seen manager Thomas Frank, last season’s top scorer Bryan Mbeumo and skipper Christian Norgaard all depart. Following those exits, Wissa, who bagged 19 league goals last campaign, is expected to play a central role under new boss Keith Andrews.

As highlighted, Mbeumo’s switch to Manchester United continues to affect Newcastle negatively. Not only did they miss out on signing him, but his Old Trafford move has also complicated their chances of prising Wissa away from Brentford.

Adding to their frustrations, Newcastle’s pursuit of Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen has also hit a wall. Wolves are unwilling to part with the Norwegian after losing Matheus Cunha—who, in another blow, also joined Manchester United.

According to the Mail, Wissa may also come onto Tottenham Hotspur’s radar before deadline day. Spurs boss Thomas Frank, formerly in charge at Brentford, is keen on Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and could even include Richarlison in a potential exchange for the midfielder.
