Jorgen Strand Larsen transfer: Wolves manager Vitor Pereira suggests Newcastle United could land striker at correct fee

Manager Vitor Pereira has implied that he expects Jorgen Strand Larsen may depart Wolverhampton Wanderers if the right offer comes in.

On Monday, reports surfaced that Newcastle United had seen a £50m bid rejected for the Norwegian striker, with expectations that a fresh proposal could soon follow.

Even with Wolves facing the possibility of losing their star forward, Pereira still included Strand Larsen in the squad for Tuesday’s EFL Cup second-round meeting with West Ham United.

Brought on while his side trailed 2-1, Strand Larsen scored twice in just three minutes as Wolves staged a dramatic comeback success at Molineux.

Although Wolves are now preparing for their Premier League clash with Everton on Saturday, attention off the field remains fixed on developments around the 25-year-old.

Speaking to the press after the game, Pereira stressed that he would like Strand Larsen to remain in his team.

Yet, the Portuguese coach admitted “every player has a value,” indicating Wolves could approve a deal if their asking price is reached.

Quoted by Express & Star journalist Nathan Judah on X, Pereira said: “If it were up to me, I already know his mindset right now, but he stays professional.

“He’s a team-focused player, a fantastic footballer. At this stage, he’s still our man. Every player has a value, that’s part of football.”

Earlier reports have suggested Wolves are prepared to sanction the exit of the ex-Celta Vigo attacker should they receive an offer in the region of £60m.

With Nelson Semedo, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha already departed, Wolves have lost three of their six most influential performers.

Strand Larsen could be next to leave if he joins Newcastle, and there is a growing feeling that a transfer is inevitable as Newcastle intensify their search for a striker.

Fosun International, Wolves’ owners, are likely to face criticism if they sell Strand Larsen this late in the market, as it would surely harm their survival chances.

On the other hand, they stand to gain at least £30m profit on a player bought little more than a year ago, with funds available to sign two strikers as his replacement.

Since the player himself appears open to a switch to St James’ Park, Wolves realistically have few alternatives, even though Strand Larsen has not tried to push for a move.
