Lions Trade Tim Patrick to Jaguars for 2026 Sixth-Round Pick

The Detroit Lions confirmed Wednesday that veteran receiver Tim Patrick has been traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars. In exchange, Detroit will acquire a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Patrick, 31, joined the Lions earlier this year after a long tenure with the Denver Broncos. His recent career has been defined by perseverance, as he returned from back-to-back major injuries — an ACL tear in 2022 followed by an Achilles rupture in 2023. Last season, he posted 33 receptions for 394 yards and three touchdowns.

Despite his experience, Patrick entered training camp as the projected No. 5 wideout and was unable to solidify a larger role during preseason. With younger options such as Isaac TeSlaa and Dominic Lovett showing promise, Detroit’s front office opted to deal Patrick for future assets.

The trade could also pave the way for a reunion with Jackson Meeks, who was waived earlier in the week but remains a candidate to return if the Lions keep six receivers on the active roster.
