Newcastle beginning to ‘crack’ over Alexander Isak as Liverpool gain big transfer lift

Liverpool may return with a second offer for Isak, though time is running out. The window closes Monday, and there’s still no certainty Newcastle will agree even if a new proposal arrives.

Although Newcastle securing Nick Woltemade in theory aids both Isak and Liverpool, that alone doesn’t mean he will be let go. Eddie Howe clearly requires another striker added to his ranks before the Sweden forward departs, while Liverpool must satisfy Newcastle’s price.

.Yet on Friday, a Daily Telegraph reporter used social media platform X to reveal what seemed like a behind-the-scenes shift.

He claimed Newcastle’s determination to hold onto the 25-year-old has, for the first time, begun to crack. While Isak could remain, Edwards believes a Liverpool switch looks increasingly possible.

“You can almost feel the mood music shifting around Alexander Isak and Newcastle. A Liverpool transfer, for once, looks like a genuine possibility,” he posted.

“Still, requirements must be met – Newcastle need to recruit two strikers not one and receive a worthy fee, but the determination to retain him has begun to weaken.”

Howe has often maintained he imagines a path back for Isak at Newcastle despite his actions.

However, in his Friday remarks, the Newcastle boss appeared to allude otherwise.

Howe admitted he cannot completely dismiss everything that unfolded with the ex-Real Sociedad attacker during this window.

“Of course, I have my football preference, but you must weigh everything up, you can’t just overlook the things that have occurred,” he stated.

Keeping Isak and refusing to bow to pressure sounds strong in principle. Yet if another forward is captured, after Woltemade’s arrival, then maybe it makes sense to cash in while Liverpool are ready to spend big.

Isak, despite his talent, may simply not be worth the turmoil.
