An early offensive lull turned into a scoring surge as the young signal-caller found his rhythm.
Bachmeier connected on 7-of-11 throws for 97 yards and three scores, displaying strong arm talent and grit in pressured situations, rare qualities for a first-year quarterback.
He tacked on 32 rushing yards, crossing the goal line twice with his legs. Using his sturdy frame, Bachmeier averaged 6.4 yards a carry.
About Bear Bachmeier
Bachmeier ranked among the nation’s most heralded recruits during his prep days at Murrieta Valley High School in Murrieta, California.
He earned a four-star label from on3 and Rivals, while ESPN slotted him as the No. 11 quarterback prospect in the class. Beyond football, Bachmeier was a First Team All-Southwestern pick in baseball in 2024 and also lettered in basketball.
His high school career closed with 6,810 passing yards and 59 touchdowns. The versatile QB added 1,724 rushing yards and 33 ground scores, averaging 10.6 yards per run and 9.6 yards per pass.
Bachmeier originally committed to BYU’s Week 2 foe, Stanford, out of high school, spending spring 2025 with the Cardinal before opting to join the Cougars.
At 6’2 and 225 pounds, Bachmeier already boasts the build to handle the punishment a Power Five quarterback endures across a season.
His brother, Hank, played quarterback for Boise State, Louisiana Tech, and Wake Forest. Another brother, Tiger, is a junior wideout for BYU. His sister, Ella, ran track at the University of Redlands.
