The transfer window may have shut in England, but Newcastle United still have moves left to complete.
A dramatic summer window came to an end on Monday as Newcastle sanctioned Alexander Isak’s record £130million switch to Liverpool while securing Yoane Wissa from Brentford for £55million.
The club also announced an outgoing loan for 18-year-old winger Trevan Sanusi, who has joined Lorient for the campaign. William Osula, meanwhile, came close to a departure but a move never materialised.
Another exit is about to be confirmed today with several European markets still active.
Tuesday marks the deadline in the Netherlands, where Newcastle have struck a loan agreement with an Eredivisie outfit.
Teenage midfielder Travis Hernes, 19, is expected to join Dutch side FC Groningen on loan for the 2025/26 season.
The year-long loan also grants Groningen the option to make the switch permanent.
Hernes arrived from Shrewsbury Town in 2023 but has yet to make his breakthrough. The youngster has trained under Eddie Howe and featured in friendlies, though he still awaits his senior debut two years after joining.
He has been a regular for the under-21s and spent the latter half of last season at AaB Aalborg. Hernes made 12 league outings in Denmark but endured a frustrating spell as the side was relegated.
The midfielder was also forced into an apology after being spotted in a nightclub following Aalborg’s heavy 4-0 loss to Viborg alongside two teammates.

Newcastle couldn’t finalise a Championship loan for Harrison Ashby on deadline day, meaning a foreign move could now provide the 23-year-old with vital game time this season.
Serbian defender Miodrag Pivas made his under-21 debut a year after arriving but is another player made available for loan.
Due to his age and lack of minutes last campaign, Pivas is determined to secure consistent first-team football this year.
Though the British transfer market closed on September 1, Pivas can still complete a switch abroad.
The Dutch window is open until September 2, while Austria, Croatia and Ukraine shut on September 5. Belgium and Poland clubs may still register players until September 8.
Czech, Romanian and Swiss markets close on September 9, while Turkey and Greece shut theirs on September 11 and September 12 respectively.
