When to Expect Alexander Isak’s Liverpool Debut Following Record Transfer

Alexander Isak has become the final arrival in Liverpool’s squad during this summer’s transfer window.

The Reds confirmed the striker’s capture from Newcastle United just hours after the deadline, wrapping up a dramatic saga. Isak signed a six-year contract, sealing his £135m British-record switch from Newcastle on Monday night.

Newcastle initially wanted £150m for their prized forward – but Isak pushed hard for the move, forcing the hierarchy at St James’ Park back into talks where they struck an agreement over the closing weekend of the window.

Landing a world-class striker, who already boasts 54 Premier League goals in 86 outings, is certain to excite Liverpool fans. The only setback is that the Anfield faithful must wait a little longer before seeing him take the pitch.

He will only be available to feature for Arne Slot’s side once the international fixtures conclude, according to the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool’s first match after the break arrives in the Premier League on Sunday, September 14.

The Reds will visit Turf Moor to meet promoted Burnley, who have managed one victory and two defeats since returning to the top flight.

Isak scored twice in two games against the Clarets while leading the line for his former side.

The striker might then appear in front of a packed Anfield on Wednesday, September 17. That is when Liverpool open their Champions League campaign, facing Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid in the group stage.

Atletico have stumbled out of the gates, going winless in their first three La Liga outings. Isak previously notched one goal and one assist against them during his Real Sociedad days.

He could also mark his first Premier League home outing for Liverpool against city rivals Everton on Saturday, September 20.

The season’s opening Merseyside derby has been scheduled for a lunchtime kickoff at Anfield.

From his past encounters in England, Isak registered one goal across four matches when facing the Toffees.

In response, Newcastle United acted quickly, sealing a £55m move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa. The attacker will step in wearing the number nine shirt for the Magpies, replacing Isak.
