BYU football 5-star QB pledge signs Under Armour partnership
BYU football five-star quarterback commit Ryder Lyons revealed a fresh NIL agreement with Under Armour ahead of his senior high school campaign.
BYU quarterback commit Ryder Lyons.
This past June, BYU football secured a verbal pledge from five-star Class of 2026 quarterback Ryder Lyons. He picked BYU over Oregon, USC, Ole Miss and Ohio State, and the Cougars landing the standout from Folsom High School in California is a major boost for the program’s future.
Now, Lyons is stepping into the NIL market through a partnership with Under Armour. The quarterback made the announcement through his Instagram page.
Lyons joins professional stars including Minnesota Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson, Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson, Chicago Bears receiver Luther Burden III and Seattle Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori, all of whom are linked to Under Armour, according to Daniel Hager of On3.
Though Lyons represents a huge part of BYU’s future plans, he mentioned to Pat McAfee in June that he will serve an LDS mission and will not suit up in 2026.
“I’ll be leaving on an LDS mission,” Lyons said. “It’s definitely a major step. I don’t yet know the location, but I submitted my papers in August and will receive an assignment anywhere worldwide two to three weeks later.”
Lyons further explained that BYU showed belief in him very early, making the choice feel natural.
“We were discussing the recruiting journey and they were the first program that (offered) back in eighth grade,” Lyons said on the Pat McAfee Show. “They took a chance on me and trusted me from the start, and it’s just wild seeing it all come full circle.”
