Kelly Stafford has always been candid when it comes to opening up about the ups and downs of raising four kids.
Kelly and her husband, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, are parents to four daughters: twins Sawyer and Chandler, plus Hunter and Tyler, who arrived in 2017, 2018, and 2020, respectively.
On her podcast, The Morning After, Kelly often shares stories about the chaos of parenting, noting that being a football WAG is far less glamorous and carefree than outsiders may believe.
For Kelly’s most open reflections on motherhood and her life with four young girls, read on:
Kelly confessed she’s been having a very tough time with one of her daughters, especially after repeated behavioral problems.
“One of my daughters has been a real challenge for me,” Kelly revealed on her podcast in August 2025. “It’s the same for Matthew. She has turned into a version of herself that feels unrecognizable.”
Kelly recalled how her daughter told a sibling she looked “gross” in her outfit before a family cookout. Fighting back tears, she said she had “tried everything” to improve her child’s attitude.
“Nothing is helping,” Kelly admitted. “I’m drained. And I finally told her, ‘It’s not fair to your sisters that my whole focus is on you because of your behavior. You’re creating stress. If it’s about attention, just say that. Do you need more from me?’”
Kelly said her daughter broke down and told her, “I don’t know why I’m so bad.”
Kelly has also been honest about sometimes turning to a weed gummy when the pressure of parenting feels overwhelming.
“Gummies are amazing,” Kelly said on her show in June 2025. “I honestly think they make me a calmer parent. They help me relax.”
She continued, “I do feel a little ashamed saying that and it’s not a daily thing. But sometimes after a long day, instead of losing it on them or myself, I’ll just take a gummy to settle down.”
Kelly pointed out that her youngest, Tyler, often drains her energy with constant demands for attention.
“I have to remind myself she’s the baby and only four years old,” Kelly shared on her podcast in June 2025. “I just need more patience with her. But both Matthew and I find ourselves running out of it.”
She explained that Tyler’s nonstop requests for “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” had become exhausting.
“I keep telling myself she won’t ask forever,” Kelly admitted. “But I’m just so wiped out. It breaks my heart, but sometimes even a few extra seconds with her feels heavy. It sounds awful to admit.”
She added, “I feel like a terrible mom because she’ll want one tiny thing before bed, and now I only give in maybe once every four times.”
After her twins, Sawyer and Chandler, began showing poor attitudes, Kelly made the decision to call off their eighth birthday celebration.
“This has been ongoing for months and the sass is nonstop,” Kelly said on her podcast in March 2025. “Discipline has been hard. I usually play the strict role, but Matthew had to step in too. We tried good cop, bad cop, and nothing worked.”
She continued, “We told them, ‘Your party is canceled because we can’t celebrate you behaving this way. We love you, but celebrating doesn’t feel right.’ That was the choice Matthew and I agreed on.”
Not long after, though, Kelly softened her stance and decided to go through with the party.
On Instagram, Kelly shared photos of a Paris-themed birthday bash, where she and Matthew were seen celebrating their twins.
“We officially have eight-year-olds,” Kelly captioned the post. “It’s amazing to see them grow individually while keeping their special bond. It really is beautiful.”
In a February 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Kelly admitted she’s struggling with decisions about her daughters’ exposure to social media.
“My rule has always been that once they understand what Instagram is, I need a plan,” she explained.
Kelly said it will also force her to rethink how much of their lives she chooses to share publicly.
“Soon there has to be a real conversation about whether they’ll still be on my page,” she said. “At some point, they should decide what’s shared. Their friends are on Instagram now and even follow me, which means I have to rethink everything.”
