Matthew Stafford’s wife, Kelly Stafford, recently revealed an unfortunate health update after what had been a wonderful family trip to Orlando. In a social media post, she shared that she caught a 24-hour stomach bug from one of her children during the vacation.
Posting a photo of herself resting in bed, Kelly added a humorous caption, noting how a perfect getaway can quickly change when sickness hits.
“When you’re on a great family vacation and your kid gives you the 24-hour bug,” Kelly wrote.
This update comes shortly after she shared a funny story about Matthew’s first encounter with her huge extended family. During a big family get-together with dozens of relatives, Matthew apparently needed to step away to take a breather from all the activity.
“One of the first times Matthew met my family, everyone was over at my house, and I don’t think he realized how big my family actually is,” she recalled.
“So, when we have a cookout, there are like 60 people — and they’re all family. So he’s out there talking to everyone, and suddenly I turn around and he’s gone. I’m like, what the heck?”
Kelly has been candid about her health struggles before, most notably in 2019, when she underwent surgery to remove a benign brain tumor.
“My biggest fear is not being here, not being able to raise my girls,” she told People. “When I went home and hugged them after my diagnosis, I knew I had to fight through it. I tried not to think about the worst possibilities and stayed focused on staying positive.
“Matthew was amazing through everything. He was literally by my side through every single step.”
