Kelly Stafford Quips Matthew Stafford’s Groin Hit Was ‘God’s Way’ of Handling Vasectomy

Kelly spoke about her husband’s minor injury on her podcast “The Morning After with Kelly Stafford and Hank.”

Kelly Stafford joked during her podcast that her husband Matthew’s groin shot in Sunday’s Sept. 21 football game was “God’s way of handling” the vasectomy he’s put off for the last two years.

“God finds ways of stepping in when you don’t take care of s—,” she laughed.

The couple, married since 2015, are parents to four children.

Kelly Stafford found a humorous angle after her husband’s groin injury during Sunday’s Sept. 21 NFL matchup.

As the Los Angeles Rams took on the Philadelphia Eagles that day, quarterback Matthew Stafford absorbed a hard blow in the third quarter — alarming fans and his wife Kelly, 36, who was watching.

“I definitely took a deep breath when Matthew was slow getting up after that play,” she explained on the Tuesday, Sept. 23 edition of her podcast The Morning After. Because she was inside the stadium, she couldn’t see a replay to check how bad it was, so she texted friends at home for updates.

“He goes back in [the game], thank God, and afterward I asked, ‘Hey, what happened? Are you okay?’” Kelly recalled. “And he goes, ‘Yeah, I got my nuts smashed.’”

That answer let Kelly feel some relief.

“As women, we don’t really know that kind of pain, right? So I told him, ‘Honestly, maybe that’s God taking care of the vasectomy you’ve ignored the past two years. Thank you, Jesus,’” she joked on the podcast. “God really does step in when you leave s— undone.”

During his post-game media session, Matthew, 37, kept things light when asked about the hit.

“I think it was obvious what happened,” he said with a grin. “I caught a knee in the place no guy wants one, so I just needed a minute. But I’m fine.”

Kelly and Matthew, married since 2015, share four daughters: 8-year-old twins Sawyer and Chandler, 7-year-old Hunter, and 5-year-old Tyler.

On Instagram, Kelly frequently posts glimpses of family life — including photos of her girls heading to their first school days last month.

Back in June, Kelly revealed one of the tricks she uses to stay calm in the chaos of parenting: weed gummies.

“Sometimes I swear gummies make me a better mom,” she admitted on her podcast. “They mellow me out; it’s like sipping wine.”

She added, “I feel a little bad saying that. It’s not something I do every night, but on those long days when I don’t want to rip my hair out — or theirs — I’ll take a gummy. And Matthew always reminds me, ‘If they’re fed, happy, loved, and in bed, that’s what counts.’”

Kelly has also spoken openly about the “mommy makeover” she underwent after four pregnancies. On a May podcast episode with her surgeon, Dr. Garth Fisher, they discussed the work she had done.

“I had my breasts redone, plus a tummy tuck, and you repaired my abs,” Kelly told him. “I honestly felt amazing afterward. My confidence was completely restored.”
