Kelly Stafford has always been open about sharing the ups and downs of raising four young children.
Kelly and her husband, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, are parents to four daughters: twins Sawyer and Chandler, plus Hunter and Tyler, who were born in 2017, 2018, and 2020.
On her podcast, The Morning After, Kelly often talks about the realities of parenting, admitting that life as an NFL wife isn’t nearly as glamorous or simple as many assume.

Kelly Stafford Felt She Didn’t ‘Know’ One Daughter
Kelly confessed she was facing serious struggles with one of her girls after ongoing behavioral issues.
“One of my daughters I have been very, very much struggling with,” Kelly admitted on her podcast in August 2025. “Matthew too. She has turned into a little girl that I don’t even recognize.”
Kelly recalled her daughter telling one sister she looked “gross” in her outfit before a family cookout. A tearful Kelly said she had “tried everything” to address her child’s behavior.
“Nothing is working,” Kelly admitted. “I’m drained. And I told her, ‘It’s unfair to your sisters that my energy is spent only on you daily because of how you’re acting. You’re creating problems. I don’t know if it’s for attention. Do you need more from me?'”
Kelly shared that her daughter broke down in tears and said, “I don’t know why I’m so bad.”
She Occasionally Relies on a Little Help
Kelly admitted she sometimes takes a weed gummy when the stress of motherhood feels overwhelming.
“Gummies are great,” Kelly said during her podcast in June 2025. “Sometimes I honestly think gummies make me a better mom. They calm me down.”

Kelly continued, “I feel guilty admitting it and it’s not like I take them every night. But sometimes I’m like, ‘Damn, it’s been such a long day. I don’t want to lose it, so I’ll just finish the day with a gummy.'”
She Owns Up to ‘Losing Patience’ With Tyler
Kelly mentioned her youngest, Tyler, explaining that her constant need for attention can be very draining.
“I need to remember she’s my baby and still just 4 years old,” Kelly said on her podcast in June 2025. “I need to do better with her. And show more patience. Because Matthew and I both are losing patience with her.”
Kelly admitted, “She simply doesn’t stop talking.”
She also said Tyler’s nonstop requests to hear “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” have been exhausting.
“I tell myself she won’t ask forever,” Kelly explained. “But I’m f***ing tired. It hurts me to admit it, but even an extra 15 minutes with her, or 15 seconds, feels long. Which is awful to say.”
She went on, “I feel like a terrible mom because when she asks me to do a small thing before bed, I now give in maybe once out of four times.”
She Canceled Her Twins’ Birthday Party
After twins Sawyer and Chandler showed bad behavior, Kelly said she decided to call off their 8th birthday party.
“This has been going on for months where the attitudes have taken over,” Kelly explained on her podcast in March 2025. “I’m struggling to discipline them. I’m the stricter one. I’m often the tough parent. Matthew has joined me now. We tried the whole ‘good cop, bad cop’ routine. It clearly didn’t work since nothing has changed.”
She added, “We told them, ‘Party is canceled because we can’t honestly celebrate you right now considering how you’re acting. We love you, but we don’t think you deserve a celebration.’ That’s exactly how we felt, Matthew and I.”

Soon after canceling the party, however, Kelly changed her mind.
On Instagram, Kelly and Matthew later posted photos from a Paris-themed celebration for their twins.
“We have eight-year-olds,” Kelly captioned. “Love seeing each of them grow in their own way while keeping their bond. It really is so special.”
She’s Concerned About Social Media Exposure
In an exclusive February 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Kelly admitted she was uncertain about what her daughters should or shouldn’t see online.
“When it comes to social media, I’ve always said the day they know what Instagram is, is the day I have to figure it out,” Kelly shared.
Kelly admitted it would also mark a shift for her personally, since she may have to stop sharing so much about them.
“At some point soon, there will be a discussion about whether or not I keep showing them on social media,” she explained. “We want them to control their own image. Their friends now have Instagrams and follow me. That’s something I really need to think about going forward.”
