Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown Makes Personal Announcement Ahead of Rams Game Clash

Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown says his ankle injury is no longer a concern as the team prepares to face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, December 14.

One week after being a game-time decision due to a sprained ankle, St. Brown told reporters on Thursday that he continues to improve and feels confident heading into Week 15.

“It was a little sore after the game, but it wasn’t too bad,” St. Brown said. “It’s getting better every day. Hopefully it’s behind me now.”

Amon-Ra St. Brown Injury Update

St. Brown suffered the ankle sprain in the first quarter of the Lions’ Thanksgiving loss to the Green Bay Packers. He did not practice at all before Detroit’s Week 14 win over the Dallas Cowboys, creating uncertainty about his availability.

Despite those concerns, the Pro Bowl receiver played 57 of 62 offensive snaps against Dallas, caught a pass on Detroit’s first offensive play, and finished with six receptions for 92 yards.

St. Brown admitted after the game that he was unable to walk for several days following the injury and didn’t know he would play until roughly 24 hours before kickoff.

Lions Coaches Praise St. Brown’s Leadership

Lions wide receivers coach Scottie Montgomery revealed just how close St. Brown was to missing the game.

“Wednesday, I was critically concerned about his ability to play,” Montgomery said. “And Thursday he went out and put together a performance our team needed to see from a leader.”

Montgomery also explained that the Lions adjusted their personnel packages during the week, preparing for the possibility that St. Brown might be limited or unavailable. He even reviewed late game-plan changes with St. Brown during a video call while the receiver was out to dinner Wednesday night.

Mental Challenge of Playing Injured

While St. Brown said he felt slightly more fatigued than usual due to missing two weeks of practice, he emphasized that the mental side of the game was the biggest challenge.

“Different spots, different plays, and not being able to rep it was the hardest part,” St. Brown said. “Usually I’m getting all the mental and physical reps during the week. Seeing it on an iPad and then going out and doing it was tough.”

Full Go vs. Rams

Now fully recovered, St. Brown is off the injury report and expected to play without limitations against the Rams.

The star receiver leads the Lions this season with:

81 receptions

976 receiving yards

9 touchdowns

With St. Brown healthy again, the Lions’ offense gets a major boost as Detroit continues its push toward the postseason.
