The Detroit Lions are officially in the offseason following the conclusion of the 2025 NFL season, but work is already underway as the organization looks to regroup and improve heading into next year.
Although Detroit was eliminated from playoff contention after a December 25 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the Lions closed the season on a high note with an impressive Week 18 victory over the Chicago Bears. That win highlighted the team’s talent and resilience, even as changes loom this offseason.
Following the season finale, the Lions announced major news regarding wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, further cementing his place among the NFL’s elite.
Amon-Ra St. Brown Makes NFL History
On Tuesday, January 6, the Lions shared on social media that St. Brown surpassed 100 receptions for the season, making him the first player in NFL history to record 100-plus receptions in four of his first five career seasons.
According to NFL research, St. Brown finished the 2025–26 season with:
117 receptions
1,401 receiving yards
11 receiving touchdowns
Despite some fan discussion about drops during the season, the overall consensus remains clear: St. Brown continues to be one of the most productive wide receivers in the league and a cornerstone of Detroit’s offense.
Dan Campbell Praises Lions After Win Over Bears
After the Week 18 win, head coach Dan Campbell praised his team for finishing strong despite playoff elimination.
“I’m still proud of them because it’s not always the easiest thing,” Campbell said. “You get eliminated and it’s hard for some guys, but our guys fought from the beginning.”
Campbell also highlighted the team’s composure after Chicago made a late push, noting it was one of Detroit’s best performances in terms of complementary football.
Lions Looking Ahead to the 2026 Season
Campbell emphasized that the responsibility now falls on himself and general manager Brad Holmes to ensure the Lions take the next step.
“I believe that things happen for a reason,” Campbell said. “It’s up to Brad and I to make it for the best and the guys that we know we’re going to count on.”
With cornerstone players like Amon-Ra St. Brown leading the way, the Lions enter the offseason with optimism as they prepare for the 2026–27 NFL season.
