The Detroit Lions made several roster moves on Monday as they continue to reshape their depth chart ahead of a critical matchup against the Los Angeles Rams late in the 2025 NFL season.
Detroit announced that wide receiver Andrew Armstrong was released from the practice squad, ending his short stint with the organization after failing to secure a spot on the active roster.
To strengthen their roster depth, the Lions signed veteran safety Damontae Kazee and defensive lineman Pat O’Connor to the practice squad. The moves are aimed at bolstering both the secondary and the defensive line as injuries continue to test the team’s depth.
Kazee’s signing comes at a crucial time for Detroit, with Brian Branch sidelined for the season due to a torn Achilles. The veteran safety brings eight years of NFL experience and is expected to be elevated to the active roster once he becomes comfortable in Kelvin Sheppard’s defensive system.
O’Connor adds valuable depth to the defensive front and provides special teams upside, another key area of concern as the Lions gear up for a potential playoff push.
While not blockbuster transactions, these under-the-radar moves highlight Detroit’s urgency and focus as the playoff race intensifies.
