Lions Face Chaos as NFL 2026 Schedule Reveals Six Opponents With New Head Coaches

The Detroit Lions are already preparing for the 2026 NFL season, with draft evaluations and free-agency planning underway at the Meijer Performance Center as they aim to reclaim the NFC North title they won in 2023 and 2024.

Head coach Dan Campbell made a major staff change by parting ways with offensive coordinator John Morton and hiring former Arizona Cardinals OC Drew Petzing.

While the NFL will release the full 2026 schedule in the spring, Detroit’s 17 opponents are already known.

All teams from the NFC South and AFC East

Outlook for the Detroit Lions in 2026

With a mix of division rivals, playoff teams, and rebuilding franchises, the Lions’ 2026 schedule presents both opportunity and challenge. Detroit will face six teams with new head coaches, which could create early-season matchup advantages if the Lions maintain continuity under Dan Campbell.

Detroit’s offseason moves, draft performance, and development under new offensive coordinator Drew Petzing will determine whether the franchise can return to the top of the NFC North.
