The Detroit Lions intend to reach out to NFL headquarters following a disputed decision in their game against the Los Angeles Rams that drew significant scrutiny. A touchdown scored by Rams tight end Colby Parkinson was allowed to count, despite replay angles appearing to show his knee touching the ground before the ball crossed the goal line.
Head coach Dan Campbell said on Monday that he has not yet received a detailed explanation from officials beyond confirmation that the ruling on the field would not be overturned. When asked if the league had provided additional clarification, Campbell said the coaching staff plans to inquire further but acknowledged that the only feedback so far was that the original touchdown call remained in effect.
Detroit Faces Must-Win Situation in Playoff Push
With the loss, Detroit now finds itself in a challenging position as the regular season winds down. The Lions must win each of their remaining three games to keep their postseason hopes alive, and even then, they may need favorable outcomes from teams ahead of them in the standings, including the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.
Campbell emphasized that his message to the locker room has not changed despite the circumstances. He stressed that the team cannot afford to focus on hypothetical scenarios and instead must concentrate on preparation and execution. According to Campbell, the only priority is putting in consistent work, trusting teammates to do their jobs, and maintaining attention to detail in hopes of finding a way to win each week.
Amik Robertson’s Status Remains Uncertain Ahead of Steelers Matchup
Detroit is also monitoring the health of cornerback Amik Robertson, who is dealing with an injury to his hand. Campbell said the team is optimistic Robertson could be available for the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but his status will depend on how he responds over the next few days.
The coaching staff plans to evaluate Robertson during practice before making a final determination, noting that hand injuries can impact a player’s effectiveness depending on severity. Although Robertson briefly exited the Rams game due to the issue, he was able to return and finish the contest, leaving the Lions cautiously hopeful he will be ready to suit up this weekend.
