Detroit Lions trade rumors surrounding Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby continue to gain momentum, as new reports suggest the elite defensive end could still be available via trade this offseason.
According to The Athletic, league insiders believe Crosby may be open to a change of scenery despite his public comments downplaying speculation. NFL teams — including the Detroit Lions — are expected to monitor the situation closely.
Maxx Crosby Trade Interest Growing Around the NFL
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports that while Crosby has not formally requested a trade, his interest in joining a winning team is becoming increasingly clear around league circles.
“Maxx Crosby isn’t coming right out and saying it. But to coaches and general managers around the league, it’s pretty obvious,” Russini wrote. “There’s a strong sense he could be there for the taking, even though the Raiders would likely demand a Micah Parsons-like package.”
Las Vegas is not expected to force Crosby to stay if he truly wants out, although the asking price would be significant.
Crosby Responds to Trade Rumors
Crosby addressed the swirling rumors during an appearance with Colin Cowherd, pushing back on claims that he has privately expressed a desire to leave Las Vegas.
“Now that I’m quiet, I’ve got random people making big statements for me,” Crosby said. “I just sit back and laugh, because I know my truth. When I go to bed at night, I have a smile on my face.”
He also emphasized his offseason routine and commitment to rehabilitation.
“I’m getting healthy. I’m in the building every day from 6 a.m. until almost 2. That’s all I care about.”
Raiders and Crosby Have Not Yet Met
Despite the speculation, Crosby has not spoken directly with the Raiders since the season ended. ESPN reports that owner Mark Davis, general manager John Spytek, and new head coach Klint Kubiak are expected to meet with Crosby soon.
“Crosby wants to be part of a winner,” ESPN noted. “He has been fiercely loyal to Las Vegas, but that loyalty will be tested. The Raiders are still far away from significant winning, and trade interest is incredibly robust.”
Detroit Lions Among Teams Expected to Inquire
NFL insider Jeremy Fowler says trade interest for Crosby could involve more than a dozen teams.
“Possibly up to 20 teams will at least inquire,” Fowler wrote. “Natural contenders include the Bills, Lions, 49ers, Cowboys and Ravens.”
The Detroit Lions would be a logical suitor as they look to upgrade their pass rush for a Super Bowl push. Acquiring Crosby would give Detroit one of the league’s most feared defensive fronts.
Why Crosby Makes Sense for Detroit
Crosby is widely regarded as one of the NFL’s top edge rushers and would immediately upgrade the Lions’ defense. His relentless motor, leadership, and production would fit perfectly with Dan Campbell’s culture and Detroit’s championship window.
While the Raiders are expected to demand a massive return, the Lions remain one of the most realistic and attractive landing spots if Crosby becomes available.
