Newcastle United launch fresh transfer bid after Nick Woltemade medical scheduled

Newcastle United only have a handful of days remaining to strengthen their frontline and land the striker they’ve long targeted in this summer’s market. The Magpies are still searching for a successor to Callum Wilson, who departed the club once his deal expired.

Added to the uncertainty around Alexander Isak and the recent ban for Anthony Gordon, Eddie Howe’s demand for reinforcements is evident to everyone.

The Toon appear to have made progress with Nick Woltemade set to arrive on Tyneside for his medical, while Brentford attacker Yoane Wissa remains linked. Another fresh option has also emerged in the last few days.

According to The Telegraph, Wolves have rejected a third Newcastle offer for forward Jorgen Strand Larsen after previously turning down two bids. The most recent, worth around £55 million, was dismissed as chairman Jeff Shi insists the striker won’t be sold.

Wolves are understood to be eyeing Genk frontman Tolu Arokodare as one of their potential additions.

Meanwhile, The Athletic reports Strand Larsen has informed Wolves of his desire to move following Newcastle’s approaches. The outlet adds that the Magpies view the Norwegian as Wilson’s replacement, not Isak, who is determined to push through a Liverpool switch.

Corriere Dello Sport state Newcastle have also made an ‘approach’ to take Roma’s Artem Dovbyk on loan before Monday’s market deadline.

The Ukrainian forward is expected to exit Serie A this summer with interest from various Premier League clubs and Villarreal. The Spanish side had one loan proposal dismissed by Roma, and Newcastle’s similar move has met the same outcome.

Reports claim the Magpies are refusing to include a compulsory purchase clause, making the deal unlikely to progress.
