Speculation continues to grow around the future of Las Vegas Raiders star pass rusher Maxx Crosby, and one prominent NFL insider believes several contenders could jump into the mix if he becomes available. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and Baltimore Ravens are among the teams that could show serious interest in trading for the $106 million defensive standout.
Fowler noted that Crosby’s potential availability would spark massive league-wide attention. He estimates that more than a dozen teams — and possibly close to 20 — would at least explore a deal if the Raiders decide to shop their defensive cornerstone. Among the most logical suitors, Fowler mentioned several established contenders, including the Bills, Lions, 49ers, Cowboys, and Ravens.
Mixed Signals Around Crosby’s Future in Las Vegas
Reports about Crosby’s status have been anything but consistent. FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer has suggested that Crosby may never take another snap for the Raiders, while NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has pushed back on that idea, stating that Crosby is comfortable in Las Vegas and has not formally requested a trade.
Even so, uncertainty remains. Crosby has reportedly grown weary of the Raiders’ continued struggles, lack of sustained success, and organizational instability. Being shut down early last season may have only intensified that frustration, making a separation increasingly plausible.
Why These Teams Make Sense as Fits
The Ravens, Lions, and Bills are all logical teams to be connected to Crosby due to their shared need for a dominant edge presence. Each roster is close to championship contention, and adding an elite pass rusher could significantly tilt the balance in their favor.
Detroit may be the longest shot of the trio. General manager Brad Holmes has historically avoided blockbuster, high-dollar acquisitions, prioritizing extensions for homegrown talent instead. Still, with the Lions’ Super Bowl window tightening after a disappointing 2025 season, that philosophy could be tested.
Cap Space and Assets Could Decide the Race
From a financial standpoint, Baltimore appears to be in the strongest position. The Ravens currently have roughly $22 million in cap flexibility, with the potential for additional maneuvering once Lamar Jackson’s contract situation is addressed. Buffalo, meanwhile, faces a tougher challenge, sitting approximately $7.4 million over the salary cap.
Draft capital won’t be a major obstacle for any of the three teams, as all possess enough assets to make a compelling offer. However, Baltimore holds a slight edge in that department as well.
If Crosby does hit the trade market, this could turn into one of the most aggressive bidding wars the league has seen in years — and several Super Bowl hopefuls are already circling
