Reason Buccaneers RB Rachaad White Was Fined $46,371 During Week 7 Game vs. Lions

Buccaneers running back Rachaad White was fined $46,371 for lowering his helmet during a collision with a Detroit Lions defender in their Week 7 matchup.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have leaned on Rachaad White to bring consistency and balance to their offensive attack this season. Earlier in September, during the team’s narrow 20-19 victory over the Houston Texans, White’s heartfelt three-word celebration after scoring the winning touchdown quickly went viral.

After Baker Mayfield’s critical fourth-down scramble, White finished the drive with a two-yard rushing touchdown and exclaimed, “Thank you, God.” The emotional outburst perfectly showcased his determination and faith as Tampa Bay improved to 2-0 under head coach Todd Bowles.

Fast forward to Week 7, and White is making headlines again—but for an entirely different reason. The NFL penalized the Buccaneers’ running back $46,371 for a dangerous hit that occurred during Monday night’s game against the Detroit Lions.

As reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, “The NFL fined #Bucs RB Rachaad White $46,371 for use of the helmet on this play Monday night.” The incident happened on a rushing attempt when White lowered his head before contact, causing a helmet-to-helmet collision with a Lions defender.

The play immediately drew attention for its violent impact and clear breach of the league’s player safety regulations.
