Now, as the team prepares for the upcoming campaign, cornerback Terrion Arnold is dealing with a developing legal situation that has drawn significant attention.

Arnold Linked to Ongoing Investigation

Reports indicate that Arnold’s name has surfaced in a major criminal investigation in Florida. According to reporting from Detroit Free Press journalist David Birkett, Arnold’s name appears multiple times in a text message conversation that prosecutors say is connected to an alleged kidnapping and assault plot.

Authorities claim the messages were part of communications between individuals who were later arrested. In total, six suspects are accused of participating in the incident that occurred in Tampa in February. The messages—obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request—were recently provided to defense attorneys as part of the legal discovery process.

Despite the references to Arnold in the messages, he has not been charged with any offense. Through his lawyer, Tim Jansen, Arnold has denied any involvement in the alleged crimes. Jansen said his client expects that no charges will ultimately be filed, noting that Arnold’s familiarity with some of the individuals involved does not prove he took part in any wrongdoing.

The attorney also pointed out that Arnold did not send or receive any of the 281 messages contained in the document released during the investigation.

Details of the Alleged Incident

Prosecutors believe a man named Boakai Hilton organized the attack against three men. Investigators claim the alleged plan stemmed from Arnold’s suspicion that one of the victims had previously stolen valuables—including about $100,000 in cash, an $80,000 watch, and a phone—from a rental property Arnold was using in Largo, Florida.

Authorities say the property had reportedly been burglarized twice before the events that allegedly took place in Tampa.

Six individuals—Hilton, Arianna Del Valle, Jasmine Randazzo, Lyndell Hudson, Christion Williams, and Freddie Hughes—are facing several felony charges, including kidnapping with a firearm, armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit those crimes. Two of the defendants also face additional accusations involving aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

All six suspects are currently being held without bond and have entered not-guilty pleas. Court documents indicate that two of the accused participants have reportedly admitted their involvement to investigators, describing the incident as a form of retaliation.

Text Messages Referencing Arnold

In the messages released during the investigation, prosecutors say Del Valle—who authorities described as Arnold’s girlfriend, though that claim has been disputed by his lawyer—communicated with Randazzo about arranging for one of the alleged victims to visit her apartment.

Investigators believe Randazzo was asked to invite a man named Daniel Tenesaca to the location, where two armed suspects were allegedly waiting. Prosecutors claim Tenesaca and another man were confronted, detained, and assaulted while being questioned for nearly an hour.

The text exchange also suggests the two women discussed the situation in advance, including instructions to avoid drawing suspicion while arranging the meeting. Messages referenced Arnold by name during the conversation, which investigators say raises questions about whether the alleged plan was carried out on his behalf.

There were also discussions about payment and reminders to delete messages afterward, according to the documents.

Investigation Still Ongoing

Although Arnold’s name appears in the messages, authorities have not charged the Lions defensive back with any crimes. His legal team continues to maintain his innocence as the investigation proceeds.

For now, the situation remains unresolved, and additional developments could emerge as the case moves forward.
